Harlequin mask

The Mask of harlequin is one of the most significant features of his costume. Already from the 12th century there are traditions of the Harlequin, the special stage character in his typical costume, which over the centuries became a European phenomenon. Until today, this fascination of the tragic-comedic figure with its versatility continues with many. The primarily existential and bodily focused favorite themes of the erratic and fun-loving harlequin are underscored by this underbelly-emphasizing costuming: Food, constant hunger, eating, spitting, shitting, burping, eroticism, lust, love, death.
